Lou and Elke Peterson were looking for a designer to help build a site
to showcase their amazing photography.
Elke had a definite vision of what their site would look like and was
more than happy to actively contribute her time and energy as needed to
complete her vision. |
The
image to the left illustrates an easy to use navigation structure for
all galleries, which is clean, simple and elegant. |
Each
individual gallery also maintains the site's navigation structure, while
allowing it's viewers to preview a thumbnail version of each photo. |
When
a thumbnail is selected, the viewer is taken to a page which loads the
full size image. Each page within the gallery has it's own structure,
separated from the rest of the site. Every photo is part of a manual
slideshow that can be navigated from the top of each page and follows
the same sequence as the thumbnail view.
All photos have the name in
bold and location in regular text provided with an attractive font.
|
Security was also added to protect their photography. These features
(right & below to left) are an asset, as their photography is their
product, which had to be protected
from unauthorized downloads. To solve this security issue, two scripts
were added. The first script (right) was written to disable a right
click. |
The
second script (left) disables a feature in "Internet
Explorer®" that pops up an image toolbar on almost any image a mouse
rolls over. Both scripts were able to remove the ability of printing
and saving these works of art from the site's viewers. These scripts
were tested and compatible with all major browsers. |
Viewers
looking to purchase their photos can go to their purchasing page
(right), where a pricing table is provided. This table shows the price
of each image, both by size and matted or framed.
Customers who choose
to purchase their photos online can contact Lou or Elke by email and
verify the availability of their selected photo. Their customers also
have the convenience of online payment if they wish. |
Lou
and Elke actively travel to various shows year-round.
They felt it was
important for their viewers to have a schedule easily available to them
(left), as their main focus to reach customers is through their various
showings. |
Last,
but definitely not least, is an elegantly designed "About Us" page,
which really helps to complete their site.
As mentioned before, Elke
was very happy to work on their site as much as she could. Their images
were all scanned and compressed by Elke. Much of the sites layout was
thought of and partially designed by her.
She really did a fabulous job in putting her ideas into the site. As a
result, she came out with a site which they both are very happy with.
It was a pleasure to meet and work with Elke on their site. I was
very impressed with her abilities to come up with a simple and elegant
design that really compliments their photography. |
